The Martian

In 2035, astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is presumed dead after a fierce storm on Mars, but he's actually survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit, and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive. As Watney navigates his survival challenges, NASA scrambles to rescue him, with a team led by Commander Melissa Lewis (Jessica Chastain) eventually succeeding in pulling him to safety just as he's about to give up hope.
