Chi-Raq

A modern day adaptation of Aristophanes' ancient Greek comedy play Lysistrata is set against the backdrop of gang violence in Chicago, where a group of women led by Lysistrata, inspired by the story of Leymah Gbowee's peace movement, organize a sex strike to put an end to the city's war between rival gangs. As the strike spreads across the city, with women from many neighborhoods and occupations joining the boycott, the men refuse to cease their violence until the women seduce their way into a military armory, sparking a national crisis that ultimately leads to a truce and an end to the gun violence.
