Ship of Theseus

Aliya Kamal (Aida El-Kashef) is a visually impaired and celebrated Egyptian photographer undergoing a cornea transplant to restore her vision. Her sight restored but struggles to adjust, leading to dissatisfaction with her resulting photography. Meanwhile, Maitreya (Neeraj Kabi), an erudite Jain monk, must confront the ethics of animal testing after being diagnosed with liver cirrhosis and considering organ donation. A young Indian stockbroker, Navin (Sohum Shah), receives a new kidney but becomes embroiled in a case of organ trafficking involving an impoverished bricklayer, Shankar. The film concludes with Aliya, Maitreya, and Navin watching the shadow of a man who received their organs, as described by Plato's Allegory of the cave.
