The Unwanted

Carmilla, a young dhampir (seemingly), investigates her missing mother who disappeared years earlier in a rural town in South Carolina. She is aided by Laura, an emotionally troubled local girl with whom she becomes romantically involved. Their relationship sparks the wrath of Laura's father, Troy, who holds the key to the dark truth Carmilla is seeking. Inspired by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu's Gothic novella, the film follows Carmilla's quest as she unravels a complex web of secrets and lies that lead her to confront the possibility that her mother may be a vampire, mirroring the tragic fate of Laura's own life.
