War of the Buttons

In the midst of World War II, a small French village finds itself entangled in a peculiar yet devastating conflict: the "War of the Buttons". This merciless game of conquest has been waged for years between rival kid gangs from neighboring villages, with the ultimate prize being the collection of buttons from defeated prisoners' clothes. But when Lebrac, the chief of one such gang, falls for Violette, a young Jewish girl in danger of discovery by local Nazi sympathizers, the lines of allegiance are tested and the true meaning of war is revealed.
