Qué tan lejos

A cynical college student and an optimistic tourist, Tristeza (Cecilia Vallejo) and Esperanza (Tania Martínez), respectively, form an unlikely bond as they hitchhike together from Quito to Cuenca after a national strike blocks their bus route. Along the way, they discover shared lessons and unexpected friendship as they take rides from unknown people, including journalists, a motorbiker, and a couple on horseback. Eventually, they reach Daniel's wedding, where Tristeza must confront her past love's secrets and the two women ultimately find release by releasing the ashes of Jesús' grandmother into the Tomebamba River.
