"L'amatore" (2016) is a 90-minute documentary that tells the story of Piero Portaluppi, a Milanese architect who rose to fame during the Fascist regime. Through a rediscovered 16mm film diary shot and edited by Portaluppi himself, director Maria Mauti brings his life and work back into focus. The film offers a glimpse into the life of a charismatic figure who navigated the grandiose but tragic era with ironic detachment.
