In the musical science fiction film "Zero Patience," the ghost of Gaëtan Dugas, aka "Patient Zero," materializes and tries to contact old friends, while Victorian explorer Sir Richard Francis Burton, a 170-year-old chief taxidermist at a Toronto museum, attempts to organize an exhibition about AIDS. As Burton manipulates footage to support the popular Patient Zero hypothesis, Zero's ghost reappears, leading to a complex and emotional dance between the two. Through this unlikely romance, "Zero Patience" explores the urban legend of Patient Zero, refuting the idea that Dugas was solely responsible for introducing HIV to North America, and shedding light on the true story behind one of the most enduring myths of the AIDS epidemic.
