Me and the Cult Leader

A poignant and intimate road movie that traverses the complex web of human relationships and moral obligations, "Me and the Cult Leader" follows two men, Atsushi Sakahara, a victim of the 1995 sarin gas attack in Tokyo's subway system, and Hiroshi Araki, an executive of Aleph (formerly Aum Shinrikyo), as they travel to their respective hometowns and visit the university they both attended. Conversations unfold, revealing the nuances of Araki's involvement with the cult and his reasons for remaining a part of it, while Atsushi grapples with his own PTSD and the complexities of redemption and forgiveness.
