The film "Emperor of the North" (1973) tells the story of two hobos, A No. 1 (Lee Marvin) and Cigaret (Keith Carradine), who challenge the ruthless railroad conductor Shack (Ernest Borgnine). The two men engage in a violent struggle against Shack, with the ultimate goal of outsmarting him and earning the title "Emperor of the North Pole," which is a nickname for the best hobo.
