In a crammed three-room flat in a drab suburb, a large and loquacious family navigates the chaos of life, as its prodigal son suddenly reappears from jail, bringing with him a whirlwind of unexpected changes. As the TV set, sofa, and even refrigerator vanish into thin air, the family must confront their own personal struggles - think nervous breakdowns, absent dads, and suffocating familial expectations - all while Julie, an abandoned social worker, weeps, her sister rehearses a haunting Hebrew slaves chorus in preparation for a draft.
