American Commune

The film "American Commune" (2013) is a documentary that explores the rise and fall of the Farm commune in Tennessee, founded by Stephen Gaskin in 1970. Filmmakers Rena and Nadine Gaskin return to their childhood home for the first time since leaving in 1985, reflecting on their family's history and the community they grew up in. As they chart the story of the commune's success and decline, they also examine how its values continue to shape their own lives, particularly through the experiences of their daughter, who is part of a new generation living in a more communal society.
