A haunting mystery/drama with horror/thriller elements, "Soul Survivors" (2001) follows Cassie, a college student whose car accident death leads to her becoming caught between the worlds of the living and the dead. As she struggles to cope with her loss, Cassie is plagued by hallucinations and visions, leading her to question what is real and what is just her grief-addled mind. With its top-notch production values for a genre film, "Soul Survivors" explores themes of death, guilt, and redemption, though its slow-burning mystery may leave some viewers underwhelmed.
