Aren't You Happy?

A young woman roams through the city in search of a place to sleep, meeting various people along the way, including young mothers, an abstinent existentialist, and others who embody the societal expectations of motherhood, sex, and happiness. The protagonist, Das melancholische Mädchen (The Melancholic Girl), is a writer struggling with depression, which she views as a political issue. Her journey is portrayed in 14 loosely connected episodes, ending with her finding a place to rest with a naked man on the bed, who serves as an unexpected and sympathetic presence.
