In this epic drama, a renowned Sichuan opera actor recounts his life to two underworld officials as he embarks on a journey into the netherworld. Along the way, he reminisces about his past, weaving together events from the 1920s to the 1980s - including the Second Sino-Japanese War, the Chinese Civil War, the Great Chinese Famine, and the Cultural Revolution.
