Mankiller

The film "Mankiller" tells the story of Wilma Mankiller, the first woman to be elected Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation, who defied all odds to give a voice to the voiceless, overcoming rampant sexism to usher in an era of improved stability and prosperity for her people. The documentary follows her life from childhood in Oklahoma to her rise to power within the Cherokee Nation, utilizing original interviews with friends, family, and activists, including Gloria Steinem, as well as archival footage.
