The Astronaut Farmer

Charles Farmer (Billy Bob Thornton), a former US Air Force fighter pilot and astronaut-in-training, leaves his space dreams behind to take over his family's failing ranch in Texas after his father's suicide. Despite facing foreclosure, Charles builds a working replica of the Mercury-Atlas rocket and spacecraft in his barn with the support of his wife Audrey, their teenage son Shepard, and young daughters Stanley and Sunshine. As he attempts to launch the rocket, government officials stall him due to security concerns, but Charles perseveres and ultimately succeeds in launching the rocket "The Dreamer" into space, earning a hero's welcome home.
