Twelve-year-old mathematics genius Prem Patel discovers his recently deceased father was a famous rapper and sets out to learn more about his life and passions. Empowered by imaginative hip-hop music-fueled fantasies, Prem is determined to find out if hip-hop truly is in his DNA. He joins the talent competition alongside his best friend Jerome, where he faces bullies and finds support from older students Mercedes and Gabe who bond with him over hip hop and math. As Prem navigates his journey, he learns to come to terms with his father's past and find his own path.
