The Tribe

In a gripping and unrelenting vision, "The Tribe" brings to light the brutal world of teenage tribalism in a Ukrainian boarding school for deaf students. A novice scholar, Sergey, gets drawn into an institutional system of organized crime involving robbery and prostitution, crossing dangerous lines when he falls for one of the girls assigned to pimp. Set entirely in Ukrainian Sign Language with no subtitles, this film is a raw and unflinching exploration of violence, bullying, and misfit identities.
