Basil

Basil, a 1998 British historical drama film directed by Radha Bharadwaj and starring Christian Slater, Jared Leto, Claire Forlani, and Derek Jacobi, is based on the 1852 novel of the same name by Victorian author Wilkie Collins. The story follows Basil, a young aristocrat struggling to meet his over-bearing father's approval while trying to please his selfish lover, Julia Sherwin. As he navigates this complex web of relationships, Basil ultimately finds redemption and forgiveness with the help of his childhood friend Clara Fairfax.
