Not One Less

Not One Less is a 1999 drama film by Chinese director Zhang Yimou, set in the People's Republic of China during the 1990s. The film centers on Wei Minzhi (played by herself), a 13-year-old substitute teacher called in to teach in the rural village for one month. Her task is to keep all students present. When one student leaves to search for work in the city, Wei searches for him and faces various challenges as she tries to balance her teaching duties with the harsh realities of poverty and bureaucracy.
