A World Apart

In 1960s Johannesburg, South Africa, a world is shattered for 13-year-old Molly Roth when her father, a communist activist, disappears and her mother is detained by authorities, forcing her to confront the harsh realities of apartheid. As she struggles to come to terms with her family's activism and her own place in it, Molly must navigate fragile relationships with friends and community members, all while learning that even small acts of resistance can be powerful tools against racial injustice. A poignant coming-of-age story that honors the real-life experiences of Shawn Slovo's parents, Ruth First and Joe Slovo, who were both anti-apartheid activists.
