Machuca

Set in turbulent Santiago during the months leading up to the 1973 coup d'état, "Machuca" tells the story of two boys from different worlds: Gonzalo Infante, a wealthy, European-background boy who attends an elite Catholic school, and Pedro Machuca, a poor, indigenous boy from the slums. The film follows their unlikely friendship as they navigate the social tensions of a country on the brink of revolution, with Father McEnroe's integration project at the center. As Gonzalo and Pedro's bond is tested by the escalating unrest, the boys find themselves torn between loyalty to their friends and family, and the harsh realities of class and privilege.
