Fifteen-year-old Neil Shafer, played by Michael Johnston, is a high school nerd who writes amateur erotic fiction, specifically slash, about his favorite TV and film series. After being embarrassed when another student steals his exercise book, he meets Julia Jordan, played by Hannah Marks, who shares his passion for writing slash and encourages him to publish his work on the fan fiction website The Rabbit Hole. Neil gains a following online, but struggles with his own sexuality and whether he's gay or attracted to Julia, while attending Comicpalooza with Julia and other fans.
