I Am David

A 12-year-old boy named David flees a Communist concentration camp in 1952 Bulgaria on his own, using only a loaf of bread, a letter to deliver in Denmark, and a compass as tools for survival. He travels through Italy, Switzerland, and eventually meets a warm elderly woman named Sophie who lives in Switzerland, helping him find liberty and love amidst distrust and hatred. With the help of this woman, David is reunited with his mother in Denmark, discovering that the true purpose of his journey was to be reunited with her.
