The Fugitives

Jean Lucas (Gérard Depardieu), a former bank robber released from prison, is taken hostage during a bank robbery and must flee with his former captor, François Pignon (Pierre Richard). After a series of misadventures involving the police, a senile veterinarian friend of François' late father, and a young girl named Jeanne who has refused to speak since her mother's death, Lucas agrees to help François create a new identity in order to leave France with his daughter. As they embark on a cross-country road trip, they use disguises and clever schemes to evade the police and ultimately find freedom together.
