Skin

"Skin" is a 2008 biographical drama film directed by Anthony Fabian, based on the true story of Sandra Laing, a South African woman born to white parents who was classified as "Coloured" during apartheid due to genetic atavism. The film follows Sandra's struggles with her identity and her family's complex relationships, including her father Abraham (Sam Neill) who fights to have her classification reversed, and her lover Petrus (Tony Kgoroge), with whom she elopes but eventually divorces. Ultimately, Sandra finds reunion with her mother Sannie (Alice Krige) after years of separation, in a story that explores the complexities of apartheid-era South Africa and the power of forgiveness.
