How I Celebrated the End of the World

The film "How I Celebrated the End of the World" (2006) tells the story of 17-year-old Eva and her 7-year-old brother Lalalilu, living in Bucharest, Romania during the final years of Nicolae Ceaușescu's regime. After Eva is expelled from school for her uncooperative attitude, she meets Andrei at a technical school where they plan to escape by swimming across the Danube into Yugoslavia and relocating to Italy. Meanwhile, Lalalilu and his friends devise a plan to assassinate Ceaușescu, believing he is the reason for Eva's decision to leave.
