In the stark, rural Quebec landscape at Christmas time, 15-year-old Benoît (Jacques Gagnon) navigates the complexities of family life and coming-of-age in a mining town dominated by conservative values. His uncle Antoine (Jean Duceppe), who runs the local general store and undertaker business, struggles with his own demons as he deals with death and regret. As Benoît learns more about his family's dynamics and his uncle's troubled past, he begins to question the social norms that govern their community on the eve of significant change.
