During World War II, Filip, a young Polish Jew, escapes the massacre of the Warsaw Ghetto and disguises himself as a French Gentile to survive in Nazi-occupied Germany. He works as a waiter in an upscale hotel restaurant while hiding his Jewish identity, engaging in forbidden relationships with German women and blackmailing them into silence. As he navigates the treacherous landscape of occupied Frankfurt, Filip falls for a photo-technician named Lisa, whose sincerity sets him apart from his past flings, but their love is ultimately tested by the dangers of their situation. Ultimately, Filip must confront the Nazi authorities in a desperate bid for survival and freedom.
