The Final Journey

A former German Army officer, Eduard Leander (Jürgen Prochnow), accompanies his granddaughter, Adele (Petra Schmidt-Schaller), on a journey to Ukraine to find the woman he once loved, Svetlana. Along the way, they meet Lew, a young, life-loving Russian, who helps them in their search and introduces them to his family. As they travel through war-torn Ukraine, Eduard confronts his past as a Kompaniechef of a Kosaken-Kavallerieeinheit and faces questions about his role during World War II. The film follows the emotional journey of Eduard, Adele, and Lew as they search for Svetlana's family and face their own personal demons.
