A mysterious and addictive substance becomes a nationwide sensation in the United States, but its true nature is sinister. Former FBI agent-turned-industrial saboteur David "Mo" Rutherford (Michael Moriarty) teams up with junk food mogul Charles W. "Chocolate Chip" Hobbs to investigate the product, which turns out to be a living, parasitic extraterrestrial organism that gradually takes over the brain and mutates its victims into zombie-like creatures.
