In a South African landscape where racial segregation was still prevalent in 1987, two brothers Nkosana and Impi grew up on a farm where they formed an unlikely bond with their liberal white owners' daughter Elizabeth. But when racist neighbors arrive, tragedy strikes, forever altering the course of their lives. Years later, the grown brothers find themselves on opposing sides of the law, forced to confront their loyalty to one another in the face of gang violence and betrayal.
