In 1944, Romania's border is set ablaze as students from a military school for officers must defend their homeland against the Nazi occupation during the Battle of Păuliș. With the fate of their country hanging in the balance, a handful of young men, including Colonel Maxineanu and Andrei, find themselves at the forefront of a desperate fight to repel the invading forces. As the battle rages on, reinforcements from the Soviet and Romanian armies arrive just in time to turn the tide against the Hungarians, who had been bolstered by German support. The result is a testament to the bravery and resilience of those who refused to let their country be overrun.
