A gritty biographical drama, Citizen Gangster tells the true story of Canadian gangster Edwin Alonzo Boyd, who turned to a life of crime after feeling disillusioned by his post-war circumstances and struggling to provide for his young family in Toronto. As he embarks on a series of daring bank robberies, Boyd's dual identity as a gentle family man and a hardened criminal is laid bare, leading to a tragic confrontation with the law.
