On his 37th birthday, Michael Brown receives a call from estranged brother Tobey, and they embark on a day-long journey through Los Angeles in search of Tobey's purpose. As they navigate the city, they encounter a series of quirky characters and ultimately reach an unexpected destination. Along the way, the film features a prominent soundtrack featuring Canadian musicians like Smog, SNFU, and Wilco.
