In 1926, illusionist and escapologist Harry Houdini travels to Edinburgh, Scotland, where he meets a psychic woman, Mary McGarvie (Catherine Zeta-Jones), and her daughter, Benji (Saoirse Ronan). As they charm Houdini out of his $10,000 reward for debunking mystics, they begin a complicated relationship. The film is based on an episode in Houdini's life, but not a biopic, and stars Guy Pearce as the famous magician.
