Ty Cobb, a 1994 American biographical sports drama film starring Tommy Lee Jones as baseball player Ty Cobb, tells the story of Cobb's life through his partnership with sportswriter Al Stump. As Stump works on Cobb's authorized autobiography, he is met with a continually drunken, misanthropic and bitter racist who abuses everyone around him. Despite Cobb's darker reputation being well-known, Stump finds himself butting heads with the player over the structure of the book, with Cobb wanting to emphasize his self-proclaimed greatness while Stump argues that he needs to rely on others proclaiming his greatness.
