Ice Cold in Alex

A small Field Ambulance unit embarks on a perilous journey across North Africa during World War II, led by Captain Anson (John Mills). The team faces numerous obstacles, including minefields and treacherous terrain, as they attempt to reach British lines in Alexandria. Along the way, they encounter an Afrikaner South African officer, Captain van der Poel (Anthony Quayle), who claims to be a lost German spy, and Sister Denise Norton (Diane Clare) is fatally wounded by gunfire. The group ultimately reaches safety in Alexandria, where Anson keeps his promise to himself to have an "ice-cold lager" after witnessing the harsh conditions they endured together.
