Udaan

Seventeen-year-old Rohan Singh is expelled from Bishop Cotton boarding school in Shimla along with his friends Vikram, Benoy, and Maninder. He returns home to Jamshedpur, where he lives with his stern, abusive, alcoholic father Bhairav Singh, and his six-year-old half-brother Arjun. Rohan's dream of becoming a writer is repeatedly thwarted by his father's demands for him to work at the family metalworking factory and attend engineering classes. With the help of his supportive uncle Jimmy, Rohan eventually finds the courage to leave home with his younger half-brother Arjun, leaving behind a note warning their father about his abuse.
