After being driven home in a police car after killing her abusive husband in self-defense, Famke Janssen's character Marnie Watson is placed under house arrest, only to discover that the house she now inhabits is possessed by the enraged and violent spirit of her dead husband, Mike. As Mike's ghost increasingly threatens her, Marnie turns to a delivery boy, Joey, for help, and together they try to rid the house of its malevolent presence. But when Mike's ghost brutally kills Joey, Marnie finds herself fighting for survival once again.
