Sixteen Candles

In suburban Chicago, high school sophomore Samantha "Sam" Baker is hopeful her 16th birthday is the beginning of a great new year, but shocked when her family forgets the occasion because her older, beautiful, self-absorbed sister Ginny is getting married the next day. Molly Ringwald plays the role of Samantha Baker, who fills out a friend's sex quiz revealing her crush on senior classmate Jake Ryan. John Hughes directs this 1984 teen comedy film that explores teenage angst and first love, as Sam navigates her crush on Jake while dealing with geeky freshman Ted "The Geek" Farmer, played by Anthony Michael Hall.
