Barefoot Gen is a 1983 Japanese adult animated war drama film that tells the story of Gen Nakaoka and his family's experiences during World War II in Hiroshima. The film depicts the devastating effects of the atomic bombing on August 6, 1945, and the subsequent struggles of the survivors to find food, safety, and hope amidst the ruins.
