In 1967 Ireland, three close friends from Dublin embark on a pilgrimage to Lourdes, France, as part of a life-long dream for one woman and a chance for redemption and reconciliation for another. The group consists of Lily Fox (Maggie Smith), Eileen Dunne (Kathy Bates), Dolly Hennessy (Agnes O'Casey), and Chrissie Ahearn (Laura Linney). As they navigate their differences, the women find solace in each other's company, forgiveness, and ultimately, faith.
