An Italian in America

In this 1967 Commedia all'italiana film, Alberto Sordi stars as Giuseppe Marossi, a humble gas station attendant from Viterbo who embarks on a wild adventure across America to reconcile with his estranged father Vittorio De Sica's character, Lando. As they embark on a joyous road trip, however, it becomes clear that Lando is not the man Giuseppe thought he was - a swindler and gambler with mobster creditors. With Lando gone missing, Giuseppe finds love in Memphis, but ultimately returns to Italy alone, having learned a valuable lesson about family and identity along the way.
