In this darkly atmospheric Italian giallo film, Jennifer Corvino (Jennifer Connelly), a 14-year-old American girl, transfers to a remote Swiss boarding school where she discovers she has an uncanny ability to communicate with insects. As she navigates her new surroundings and struggles to control her powers, Jennifer becomes entangled in the investigation of a series of gruesome murders targeting young girls at and around the school. With the help of Professor John McGregor (Donald Pleasence) and his chimpanzee companion Inga, Jennifer must use her unique connection with insects to unravel the mystery and track down the sinister killer, all while confronting the darkness within herself.
