The Old Oak

In a small, rapidly fading Northern English mining town, "The Old Oak" tells the tale of an attempt to integrate Syrian refugees into a community still reeling from the closure of their own livelihoods. The story centers around TJ, a pub landlord who forms a bond with one of the refugees, Yara, as he struggles to hold onto his struggling pub. As tensions rise in the town, TJ's efforts to welcome the strangers to a place devoid of investment and hope spark a sense of sympathy and empathy among the locals.
