The African Queen is a 1951 adventure film about two English Methodist missionaries, Samuel Sayer and his sister Rose, who are stranded in German East Africa during World War I. After their village is burned down by German colonial troops, Rose relies on the rough-and-ready Canadian mechanic Charlie Allnut to ferry her safely out of harm's way. As they venture further down the river, an unlikely alliance forms between the two poles apart individuals, Rose a devoted missionary and Charlie a hard-drinking tough nut with a glint in his eye.
