Two Thousand Maniacs!

In 1964, two rednecks lure six young tourists into their rural town of Pleasant Valley, Georgia, for a Centennial celebration that turns out to be a ghastly act of revenge for the town's destruction during the Civil War. The tourists are brutally tortured and murdered one by one as they become suspicious of the town's true intentions. As the carnage unfolds, a group of Northern tourists must use their wits to survive and escape the clutches of the vengeful townsfolk, who unleash a supernatural wrath that will leave only death in its wake. In this graphic and sensationalized tale of social class differences and national perceptions, director Herschell Gordon Lewis delivers a visceral horror experience that would become a staple of exploitation cinema.
