During a long, hot summer in 1970s London, young neighbors Holly and Marina make a childhood pact to be friends forever. For Marina, troubled and fiercely independent, Holly stays the only constant in a life of divorcing parents, experimental drugs, and fashionable self-destruction. But for Holly, a friendship that has never been equal gradually starts to feel like a trap. As they grow up together on the Isle of Wight, their relationship is marked by ups and downs, including romantic entanglements, betrayals, and ultimately, a realization that sometimes, there's no "me without you."
